This project involved eight individual playground sites located at three different school locations in the White Pine County School District. Seven of the existing playgrounds were outdated and required upgrading with modern and safe equipment along with associated play surfacing. The site in Lund required design of a new playground with no existing infrastructure.
Scope requirements for the project improvements included: collaboration with school district officials and the local communities, site inventory and analysis to identifying site opportunities and constraints, assessing current playgrounds to establish priorities based on rectifying outdated safety issues, conceptual and final design of proposed playground equipment and associated surfacing, pedestrian access elements and upgrades, hardscape improvements, construction phasing, contractor acquisition and construction administration, and cost estimating throughout the design process. Final deliverables were a complete construction document package that included: site layout, hardscape improvements, demolition, grading/drainage, and landscape and irrigation repair and improvements.
